I have two grand-children at present, always hope for more i say. They are the light in my universe and so as a grand-mother I want them to see that we all make a difference on this, our planet. They are only young and have no thought of what goes on in this world, war, hunger, poverty, distruction, extinction. We make sure their world is full of fun and happiness, playing and joy.
But the reality of it is, that only by sheer luck might they one day get to see some of it, because us humans arent doing too good a job of preserving it for them. This is in my thoughts on a daily basis, and it is a worry. What will they inherit from us, will there be anything left for them to see, after we strip land of all its resources, cut forests down until there are no trees left, kill animals for no reason, and each other because one of us has a gun.
Where do you start to try to put things right, i say here and now by doing whatever we can to save a species that deserves more from us, there are so many bordering on extinction, but my heart belongs to the gorilla, so i will start here.
To my friends and family who read this, I say, if you want to send me a card for xmas or birthday, a present for xmas, please please donate the money here instead, this would be the nicest thing you could do for me, and them.
Africa and the congo is a place i have always read about and dream of seeing, sitting with some of god’s creatures would be the greatest reward. And all of them each and everyone deserves to be here just as much if not more than us. I can only watch and hope that the conflict there is resolved soon, and that they, the gorilla’s have managed yet again to come through it, and survive.
